Conservation Goals

Short term goals

To build a membership base, engage in  fund-raising activities to instigate projects in the archipelago. To educate and raise awareness of the Chagos Archipelago, its biodiversity and contribution to our understand of global environmental change.

Long term goals

Funds raised by the CCT – US will be put to good use to expand and support selected initiatives.  CCT – US will continue to support projects that help to preserve the natural diversity found within the archipelago.

Scientific and conservation efforts will be undertaken to tell us more about these islands, remove invasive plant and animal species, and restore native vegetation. These initiatives will be an important contribution to the conservation of global biodiversity.

Through academic, public and private sector partnerships, CCT-US will support conservation based research, education and outreach programs.
