USS Florida (SSGN 728) Beach Clean Up at Diego Garcia

Members of the USS Florida (SSGN 728) (Gold) crew walk the beaches of Diego Garcia during a cleanup sweep of the island. Sailors removed 200 loads of trash from six miles of beach.
To show appreciation for the support and friendship of the inhabitants of Diego Garcia, USS Florida Gold crew members participated in a beach cleanup at the end of their most recent deployment.

Due to the Indian Ocean’s currents and the location of Diego Garcia, trash anywhere from between Australia and India could wash up on the normally pristine 26 miles of ocean-side beaches.
